Mike's Future...

COMPUTER GAMES!

  • Team Fortress Classic (a Half-Life add-on) - I go by the name RightHand. For more info on the group I play with, see my pages at www.bandofhand.org.
  • EverQuest - Pure and simple, this game is D&D online. I only play on the Xegony server. I also joined the guild "The Followers of Loch Shea." Axly is currently my main character... he's a Low-Profile Main Battle Tank (aka Halfling Warrior). He's built to work in groups, so I'm also soloing the Necromancher Torcha.

BOARD GAMES! Oh, yes, I love to play games. Nearly every friday, friends gather at my apartment for hours of gaming. Currently, my interest/inventory includes:
Roleplaying! Well, yeah, it is kind of a game, but it deserves it's own section. I've played much, starting way back in 7th grade with a D&D Basic set. Game systems I have enjoyed are few, though, and include AD&D second edition (by TSR, of course), Twilight 2000 (by GDW), Living Steel (by LEG), and G.U.R.P.S. (by SJG). I also love using the Phoenix Command Small Arms Combat System, to the woe of my players.

Example Phoenix Command game turn:
GM: Okay, Dirk, you've been hit with a 7.62mm slug in the chest... passes through your kevlar, through your heart, through your spine, out your back, bounces off your body armor, and lodges back in your spine. That's 30X damage.
Dirk: 30? Cool! I've got a 40 Knockout Value.
GM: No, Dirk, 30X. That's 3 MILLION. According to the recovery table, you have 4 seconds to live.
Dirk: Oh well... at least it wasn't a mouth shot this time.

Twilight 2000 was, by far, the most fun. I gained an intrest in modern conventional war tactics and equipment which I still pursue today.
