Highly visible among those clans affiliated with the Tora, the Devil Kats have a fearful reputation, and are loathed by all who know of them.
Ruled by the brooding lord Enma Neko Takashi, the small Devil Kat Clan are the executioners of the Tora, serving them to put to death enemies, dissidents, rebels and traitors in public execution. With a cold-blooded and unfeeling reputation, the Devil Kat samurai are brutal, direct and cold both in conflict and manners.
Huge, barrel-chested and tall, with cold eyes and powerful jaws, the Enma Neko tower over the Tora, though they still defer to the more cunning Tigers.
While they hold the Tora view of the world as ‘predator and prey’, they seek to dominate through sheer physical power and brute tactics above all other concerns. This means, that while fearsome, they lack with and can be out-thought and out-maneuvered, which are among the reasons they allied with the Tora.
Perhaps reflecting the Tora rivalry with the Kobara, these executioners bear a similar hatred for the Scorpion (Sasori) Clan, who are allied with the Serpents. The swift, aggressive nature of the Scorpions has resulted in a clash of personality and many minor skirmishes between them and the Devil Kats. Effective in combat, they have not developed a martial art of their own, learning instead the Way of the Tiger from their Tora allies.
Clad in heavy ceremonial armor, enameled with dark crimson, and inlaid with the gold engraved faces of leering oni, these executioners are an awe-inspiring sight. Wearing the opaque, black full-face visor (the executioner’s mask) and bearing their trademark Mortis Forcesword (a two-handed forcesword with a long blade used for beheadings) few people have any wish to attract their cold scrutiny.
Lord Enma Neko Takashi Middle-aged with graying hair, this huge brute of a man is dour and brooding, obsessed with the many deaths he has seen and executions he has performed. Possessed of little patience, he has been known to fly into a cold rage when angered or disturbed, and speaks few words to anyone. He takes no council save for his rare meetings with Tora Hehachi, and even his family maintain their distance.
