Eleanor is a friend of mine who lives in Toronto, Ontario (in Canada).
She and I have been communicating via e-mail and snail-mail for over
a year. We have never met in person. :-) Eleanor assembled
Greenleaf's Tennyson as a gift for her daughter-in-law, Pamela.
When her house was done, she sent me pictures, and she said I could
scan them and put them here. I think it is fun to see how two houses
from the same kit can look so different!
Eleanor used siding on her house and painted it a greyish blue. (The
siding does not show up well in the photos.) The trims on the house are
white. She used bricks around the bay windows and on the chimney.
She also built a 'stone' base for the house, which she landscaped. Some
clematis is 'growing' on the wall on the left side of the house, and a
trellis with climbing roses is on the corner of the veranda. Small
evergreens and hyacinths flank the bay windows and some cheerful yellow
flowers are in the center.
The interior of the house which Eleanor built looks a lot different than mine
does. Eleanor left the stairs in the house. She doesn't have a kitchen,
so no one has to cook! Instead, she has a dining room and a large living room
downstairs. Upstairs, is the master bedroom and a baby's room. In the attic
is another bedroom.
Eleanor's daughter-in-law is the mother of two young children. Her daughter love to play with her mother's new dollhouse, (she thinks it is her house, not her mom's!) so Eleanor provided some inexpensive furniture for the house. As the children get older, Pamela can replace the furniture with better quality items.
